Especially for Parents

The Board of Education is committed to the safety and security of all our students, employees and campus visitors.

In an emergency situation, we must be able to contact you.  Please provide accurate emergency contact information (phone numbers and email addresses) to your child's school at the start of the year.  Update your contact information with school staff as soon as it changes.

USD 257 has procedures in place to protect your child and communicate with you in the event of an emergency.  Our department works with school staff, law enforcement and other health and safety officials to make our school campuses safe learning environments.

In the event of a crisis, USD 257 will make communication with parents top priority. In today’s world of instant communication with cell phones, texting, and other social media, misinformation or confusing information can spread quickly.

USD 257's Crisis Management Team’s goal is to provide clear, transparent, honest information via text, the USD 257 website and email for parents first in conjunction with communication to the USD 257 community. USD 257 will be in direct contact with parents of students who are directly involved with any crisis situation as soon as possible.
