Meal
prices are based on several factors.
1. Cost of food items
2. Cost of labor
3. Cost of other products (equipment, cleaning supplies, chemicals, paper
goods, mileage, use of lunch truck, etc., and indirect costs)
4. Inflation
Based on Government Regulations and Guidelines, the Kansas State
Department of Education provides all school food service departments
with reimbursement
rates
for free and reduced meals. The cost of meals for full pay students and
adults is then determined by the local Board of Education.
Schools receive reimbursement money, from the state and federal government,
for all student meals served. Schools do not receive reimbursement
for adults
meals.
Adult meals
are considered Ala Carte and are basically a “meal deal” for
the set price.
