USD #257 - IOLA SCHOOLS
FOOD SERVICE POLICY - OFFER VS. SERVE
CHILDREN GETTING TRAYS AND FOOD
AT BREAKFAST OR LUNCH
1. Children are allowed to go through the lunch line
and place the food items, of their choice, on their trays.
2. All Children must take the correct item(s) that are posted by food service.
They do not have to take everything. They MUST take the entree (which sometimes
consists of meat and bread) AND 2 other choices. Milk does not have to be taken,
Unless the student wants to have 5 items on their tray.
3. All Children and other persons MUST get their desired
food items, the FIRST time they come through the line. NOBODY is allowed
to go back and get something they forgot to put on their tray, after
they leave the serving area. This includes, all foods, milk, juice,
etc. If you forget it, you must go without it. (however, they may be
sent back by food service only, if they do not have the correct amount
of items on their tray)
4. No child or other person is allowed to take food or other items back to
the serving line and make an exchange. Once the foods leave the serving
line and are placed on a tray, they are considered non servable. (exchanges
may be made to the Food Service only, for obvious reasons)
All above rules apply to the children, meal monitors,
and other staff.
This policy should be read and observed often, and must be followed at every
meal.
